San Antonio de Areco

I took these pictures in my visit to San Antonio de Areco, a calm and small county 113km away from Buenos Aires city, Argentina.

Areco is known for being a place full of metalsmiths, from contemporaneous jewelers to silversmiths, like the recognized Draghi , who makes beautiful silver "gaucho" objects, like kniffes, clasps, spurs, etc.

I found Areco so inspiring, full of textures, colors and eye catching forms combined with a life so much more quiet and simple than the one in the noisy Buenos Aires.

Unfortunately, on December 2009, Areco suffered a big flood and many families were affected, many silversmiths lost great part of their workshops.
I hope it recovers soon and keeps being the dreamy place I knew.
